Open to families, seniors, terminally ill and disabled persons living at or near the poverty level by providing direct, needs-based relief to low income households and relief agencies by purchasing energy from participating utilities on behalf of eligible recipients.
Location: North Hamilton Community Health Centre (554 John St. North)
Meeting Times: Available all year, by appointment only
Goals of Program:
- To purchase heat and energy on behalf of applicants.
- To assist moms with kids, families whose parents have lost their jobs, people who can no longer earn a living because illness prevents them from working and seniors living alone on small pensions which leave them with limited income.
- To provide case management by referring applicants to agencies and other parallel energy assistance programs throughout the province of Ontario.
Description of Program (activities, participants, etc.):
- This program runs throughout the year and all applicants must go through a screening process before help can be administered.
- All applicants must meet criteria in order to be eligible for assistance.
