RHYME TIME (A Parent-Child Mother Goose Program)

Open to all North End residents. For parents/caregivers and their children 0-4 years. This program is beneficial for gaining skills and confidence in communicating with and enjoying one's child(ren).

Location:
Wesley Ontario Early Years Centre (155 Queen St. North, Lower Level of Betty Brooks Building/Victoria Park Community Homes)

Meeting Times:
Mondays from 9:45 to 11:15am in 10 sessions

Goals of the Program:

  • To learn positive parenting techniques through rhymes, songs and storytelling, as well as through appropriate modeling by the facilitators.
  • To enable parents/caregivers to create positive family relationships during their child(ren)'s early years.
  • To provide an opportunity to meet and socialize with other parents/caregivers and children.

Description of Program (activities, participants, etc):

  • A preventative program co-facilitated by one Parent-Child Mother Goose trained facilitator and one Health Centre staff member, who is a trained facilitator.
  • Sitting in a circle on the floor, parents/caregivers learn rhymes and songs, which lead naturally to holding, bouncing and interacting positively with their child.
  • Participants are encouraged to contribute their own rhymes and songs.
  • Bus tickets are available and a snack is provided.
