We are registering for Children’s Garden Club for Summer 2010!
Choose one of the following locations:
Birge Park garden
(Starts Tuesday May 25th, 6 to 8pm)
OR
Strachan and Catherine garden
(Starts Thursday May 27th, 6 to 8pm)
For ages 7 to 12 (children under 7 years must attend with an adult)

CHILDREN'S GARDENING CLUBS
Open to all North End youth in grades 1-8. Program is beneficial for social interaction, organic gardening and food access education, and a hands-on learning experience.
Garden Locations: 1. Birge Park (Corner of Birge St. & St. Matthew's Ave.) 2. Corner of Strachan St. East & Catharine St. North
Meeting Times: Program runs from May to September 1. Birge Park - Tuesdays from 6:00 to 8:00pm 2. Strachan & Catharine - Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Other supervised garden times available.
Goals of Program:
- To impact the food security of North End families by providing produce and nutritional information to their children.
- To create a caring and safe environment where children are encouraged to take responsibility for their own environment.
- To inspire a lifelong love of organic gardening.
- To reduce social isolation.
- To engage children in opportunities for experiential learning.
Description of Program (activities, participants, etc.):
- Open to North End youth in grades 1-8.
- Begins late May or early June and continues into September.
- All participants meet as a group on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm at Birge Park Garden or Thursday nights from 6:00-8:00pm at the Strachan & Catharine Garden to play games, make crafts and work in the garden.
- All tools and materials are provided.
